The Republic of Cote d'Ivoire or Ivory Coast is a country in West Africa on the Gulf of Guinea. It has an area of 322,462 sq km, size larger than New Mexico city.Its neighbor are Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Faso and Burkina. The country consists of savanna in North, coastal strip on South and dense forests in interior. The official capital is Yamoussoukro. The official language is French although there are also many local languages. The country is divided into 81 departments and 19 regions. The Major religion is Islam (38.6%), Christianity (32.8%) and various indigenous religions. Abidjan is one the populous city in western Africa.

The culture is rich and ethnically diverse due to different ethnic groups, the indigenous groups are more than 60 on the basis of cultural and historical characteristics. There are four major regions which define the cultural difference between the group -- the East and West Atlantic cultures which are different from each other in terms of economic activity, cultural characteristics, languages, and environment and separated from each other by Bandama River. The north consists of Mande in northwest and voltaic people in north east. It consists of almost one-third of indigenous population.

Bangui is a local palm wine. The traditional diet of this country is similar to its neighboring countries. Fish, chicken, grains and tuber is the staple food. Aloko which is made up of palm oil, stemmed onion, chili and grilled fish is mostly available in street vended shops...Grated cassava (Attieke) is the popular side dish.

The traditional music of ethnic groups which is characterized by melodies, rhythms that occur one after the other with the music instrument mainly made up of local materials like wood, animal skin, horn and gourd, which defines glorious past in which music was essential element in celebrations.

The art of mask making is prevalent in Cote d'Ivoire and considered as scared and well as dangerous as each mask has a soul only trained individual are allowed to wear the masks. The variety of mask available for different ceremonial purposes, the mask making of people is rivaled by none.
